First day at my job and I’m loving it already! Any job that lets me have access to some of the best computers money can buy has got to be a good one. Yeah, so the only good computers are Macs, but they’re G5′s, which are extra-nice. I suppose I can get used to using Mac OS, even if it can be a bit confusing at times.

Mostly, I just do odd jobs with the last hour of every day I work being devoted solely to checking video equipment in and out, makiing sure everything’s there and in working order. Shouldn’t be too hard. I also help out a lot of the graduate students with projects they might be working on, which may include video and audio stuff, or scanning slides, paper, etc. It’s really a very nice job for me, even if it does get a little tedious when I have nothing to do. Then again, that just means I can sit at one of the G5′s and muck around to my heart’s content. And while download speeds are fast all around campus (like, 400 kbps on average), I’ve gotten speeds of up to 2.5 megs per second, which is incredibly fast! Of course, it’s not always that fast, and I sure don’t plan on using up their bandwidth on the job, it is pretty cool to know.

My classes were pretty nice today as well, although I do have a philosophy reading to get through before the lecture tomorrow. All in all, it looks like a pretty fun line-up. Not only that, but I’ll be going home to visit on Friday! That will definitely be nice.

So it’s already been five days…it’s still kind of weird. I’ve been getting a bit homesick the past couple of days, wishing for things to be “normal” again. Of course, I just need to realize that this is normal. Things change, and a part of me just doesn’t want to accept it. Oh well. Classes start tomorrow, along with my job (yes, I actually got one…amazing, isn’t it?), so I’ll have less time to dwell on how much things have changed. Getting into a routine will help, too. Things will turn out all right sooner or later.

I walked around to all my classes, just to see where they all were. They’re mostly all in the same area, but it’s a rather big area. And I have to go from both extremes in 10 minutes every Friday. That…will not be much fun. But I suppose I’ll get used to it. Especially once my legs get used to all the walking.

So, now I’m off to find something exciting to do for the rest of the day. I’m sure I’ll find something…

Well, it’s finally time for me to head off to UW. It’s odd, sitting here in my room with very little remaining. I’ve still got stuff laying around, but it’s nothing I’m planning on taking. All that stuff has been packed away and is currently sitting in the family van, waiting for us to leave tomorrow morning to make the check-in time at 11:30.

You know, I’m actually going to miss this town. Of course, it’s not like I’m never going to come back here. I’ll be back on some weekends, and during breaks and the summer, but for all intents and purposes, I’m leaving Burlington. Of course, there are some things I won’t miss (*cough*high school*cough*cough*), but it’ll be a bit weird trading in my small home town for Seattle. But it’ll be fun, too. Especially with free bus rides in and around the city! Here’s hoping I don’t get lost in the wrong part of town…

Hopefully everything computer-wise will work out all right when I get settled in my dorm. I don’t expect any major problems, but I’m a bit iffy about the Internet. That bit might take a little work, but I should be up and running within no time.

And now I’m off to do other rather (un)exciting things until I fall asleep at my keyboard. Yay.

Wow…only a week left until I move into my dorm at UW. Jeez, that kinda crept up on me when I wasn’t looking. I still have a lot left to pack, but I’m not too worried about actually moving down there. It should be fun, and I must say I’m looking forward to being out on my own. Well, somewhat. My roommate is looking a bit questionable (I think he thinks he’s black, or something), but he’s bringing his Xbox, which will undoubtedly keep us both up late.

Other than that, not much interesting has been going on. I was supposed to go to a couple of interviews today for jobs on-campus at UW, but I found that neither of them were work-study positions, which I need to get by the time the quarter starts. So, I had to cancel both interviews and find a bunch of work-study jobs to apply for. I just need to call in and set up interviews. Yay. Well, there are a lot of open jobs, so I’m bound to get at least a couple interviews.

And now, back to packing. Oh joy.
