Watch this before reading the following rant. Actually, it doesn’t really matter, but it might help with understanding a few things.

I recently watched an episode of Penn and Teller’s show Bullshit, which took on PETA in this particular episode. This got me thinking about animal rights activists and reminded me about how much I loathe them. For instance, PETA is against the obvious, which includes meat-eating and abuse of animals. But they are also against using animals as pets as well as service animals (such as seeing-eye dogs for the blind). Er, all right…how is this bad? Yes, some pet owners do horrible things to their pets. That’s called animal abuse and it’s *gasp* illegal. But for most pets, it is a rewarding experience. Studies have shown that owning pets decreases stress in both the owner and the pet. In other words, being in a loving family is actually good for an animal. Imagine that! And no seeing-eye dogs? Curse those horrible blind people for daring to try to get around! I mean, they’ll just have to make do with mere sticks, now won’t they? Take that, blind people!

That’s not the worst of it, though. PETA is all for the “complete liberation” of animals. This includes–get this–abolition of animal abuse and death. So…they’re going to make animals immortal? Sure, why not? Forget human overpopulation. Let’s just let dogs and cats run free, make lots of babies in public, and bite people all over the place! That will result in a much nicer world that the one we live in today, where strays are taken off the streets, put in decent shelters where they can be easily adopted into nice homes, and humanely put to sleep if no one adopts them. Also, animal rights activists frequent support the actions of group such as the Animal Liberation Front, a violent known domestic terrorist group that firebombs research centers that test on animals and frequent commit acts of vandalism against shelters and slaughter houses. And they say such actions are justified. Uh, did they somehow miss the memo that arson and vandalism are freaking illegal? Seriously. You can’t be a law-abiding citizen and firebomb a university on the weekend. It’s called terrorism, not “random acts of kindness,” as one PETA nut put it, while comparing himself to Martin Luther King, Jr, Gandhi, and Jesus. Last I heard, Gandhi never set fire to a British building.

I hate people like this because they value animals over humans. Priorities, anyone? They compare the so-called “plight” of animals today to slavery, and are constantly trying to “free” them, while completely missing the fact that, over the world, millions of actual humans are being forced into slavery. They compare slaughter houses to the Holocaust, because the Jews were somehow really no better than chickens or pigs.

But here’s the kicker. PETA harasses people who kill animals, right? Well, Ingrid Newkirk, founder and president (at least at one point) of PETA said the following: “…sometimes the only kind option for some animals is to put them to sleep forever.” Contradiction, anyone? Penn and Teller provided statistics showing that in one year, PETA euthanized two-thirds of the animals it “rescued.” Mein Gott, hypocrite is an understatement in this situation! Seriously, how can you go around picketing animal shelters for putting animals to sleep when you do the same exact thing?

Such stupidity simply boggles the mind. But now I’m tired. So I shall sleep. And dream of strangling PETA activists while eating a hamburger. Excellent.
