Taco Bell and Daniella

So I walked into a Taco Bell the other day and noticed that some of the sauce packets were colored purple. I picked one up and saw that it had a link on it: DirectDaniella.com

I visited the site today and…um, wow. Taco Bell apparently decided to hook up with Sports Illustrated to create a website where you are the photographer for a swimsuit model in the Grand Cayman Islands. Why? I can’t even imagine. It’s certainly an odd promotion, especially since I can’t see anyone but single guys taking the time to check this site out to its fullest extent.

At least it’s better than what I originally thought it was: a contest where the prize was the chance to be the photographer at a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated. That would certainly be a prize targeted at a limited demographic.

  • I think it’s perfect.

Single heterosexual males are Taco Hell’s demographic.

  • Oddly enough, I started eating at Taco Bell more often after I stopped being single…

I think the main thing that’s weird with this promotion is that people aren’t likely to find out about it until they’re already in a Taco Bell where they’d see the sauce packets. Maybe it’s the world’s first promotion designed solely to increase return visits…

  • That is interesting.

Maybe it’s the other way around — maybe SI is paying Taco Bell.
    Still, it’s weird.
