I really want an Xbox

So follow this link and sign up for a referral account and do one offer. Then you can get referrals for your own Xbox. I know, I know, this stuff is usually pretty lame, but the fact that this one is all about referrals makes it a little nicer than usual. 12 referrals plus an offer (try the Stamps.com one, it’s really cheap and easy) and you’ve got an Xbox. I want to see if this actually works, and I know I have at least 12 readers. Well, 12 on-and-off readers…

Really, though, you only have to do one offer if you sign up for a referral account. They’re the usual range of stuff. Netflix, BMG Music…they have differing requirements, but most require you to only go through a trial account.

It’ll only take a few minutes of your time and you’ll get that warm fuzzy feeling that only comes from helping a fellow blogger get an Xbox. And kittens. Kittens may give you that feeling, but kittens don’t let you play Halo on them. Pwnt.

Sick

Being sick sucks. I mean, really. It’s awesome when you’re a little kid and missing school doesn’t matter because the only things you ever did in class were pick your nose, eat glue, and maybe learn about numbers. Maybe.

But when you’re older, being sick is a huge hassle. It started in high school, when teachers began telling you to make up work you had missed. What? What happened to the pat on the head and “Oh, that’s all right, you don’t have to do this assignment” of elementary school? Big bummer there. College is even worse. Some professors might not even let you make up an assignment, especially if you’re sick on a test day. You have to tell them you’ll miss the test in advance. That’s right, Professor. I’m planning on being sick Thursday. I was thinking the flu, but it might be AIDS. I haven’t decided.

Why the sick rant? Well, I’ve suffered a rather nasty cold/flu thing over the past weekend, which has caused me to miss most of class Friday (including a review session which could have really helped on the test I dragged myself out of bed for today) and two days of work. I thought I was getting better, but no. Mother Nature has to make it worse. Damn you, Nature. Now I’m not sorry for that one incident in the woods. That tree deserved it. You know what I’m talking about.

Anyways, the older I get, the less I like to miss school or work. It’s probably a result of having actual penalties for missing things. Whatever the case, I don’t like being sick. I just thought I’d let everyone know.

Past post action

You may have noticed a rather large jump in the number of posts here at Mad Rants. I don’t know how you might have noticed such a thing through a casual glance, but hey, it could happen. Anyways, I broke down and paid for a premium Xanga account so I could import all my old posts (back to September 2004) to this blog. Looking back, I don’t know why I bothered. Most of my posts were rather meaningless and certainly not anything like the things I write about now. Well, I suppose it at least gives me credibility for having an active blog for so long (“I was blogging when blogging was still the realm of people who had nothing to talk about!” …wait, that still holds true…), and I suppose the posts are fun to read through. I had a strange sense of humor three years ago.

Anyways, please bear with me as I go through and categorize, tag, name, and cleanup all the imported posts. Permalinks may be broken for these old posts, so don’t go Digging them just yet. I only wish I knew why some of the later (more recent) ones are lacking names and links for the comments. Very odd.

Never forget

Tears 9-11-01

Always remember that day.

It’s coming

Half-Life 2: Episode Two comes out in less than a month! I’m so psyched. Heck, I’m so psyched I actually said “psyched.” Oh snap!

Anyways, if you haven’t already noticed, I’m a bit of a Half-Life freak. It’s mostly because I can’t be a true Halo freak without an Xbox and I don’t want to shell out the big bucks for an Xbox when I have a computer that can play Half-Life games. Weird logic, I know. I love story-driven games, and the Half-Life series is about as story-driven as you can get. It’s like the Lost of video games. The more recent ones (Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One) even ended with major cliffhangers. Of course I’m going to want to find out what happens next.

Yeah…so, I’ll be overtaxing my Internet connection October 10 (maybe a few days later, just to give the Steam network some time to cool off) downloading the game. I’ll probably end up playing through it in a day or two, but it’ll be worth it. It’s a gamer thing.
