We are amused

Everyone’s talking about some new editor…it looks the same to me. I must have missed something.

I got picked as the Winterfest Senior Prince. Go me and my nifty crown. It may not be as prestigious as Homecoming King, but I don’t care. I like to start small. Like taking over Canada. Then I’ll go on to take over the rest of the world. Excellent.

Winterfest tomorrow night. It’d probably be a good idea to get my car to stop making odd noises before then. I don’t think a clicking engine is likely to impress the ladies. Well, lady. But that’s beside the point. If you take Travis’s word for it, I’m a die-hard lady’s man. Oh yeah.

Bus stop

You have no idea how close I came to getting a major fine today. A couple of days ago, I gave a friend a ride home from school. On the way back, I passed by a bus just beginning to stop on the other side of the road. Right as I passed, the bus put out it’s stop flaps. And apparently, the bus driver cited me for passing a bus with it’s stop flaps out. I couldn’t have stopped in time. There was no way I could have foretold the future, and been able to stop before she put her flaps out. The whole situation was like a traffic light turning yellow when you’re fifty feet away and going thirty-five miles an hour. You can’t stop that quickly. Or at least I can’t.

Luckily, I got off with a warning, and I have to apologize to the bus driver in question on Tuesday.

For not magically bringing my car to a full stop in a few feet.

Oy.

Car accident

Check this out:

Freaky.

I got in my first car accident yesterday after school. I was on my way to Haggen to get some money with my sister Chelsea and we were stopped at a red light. I looked in my rearview mirror and see this car come barreling right at us. The next instant, the Geo had moved up about a foot or two and my neck was hurting like a sonuvagun. We pulled to the nearest gas station and talked with the girl in the car that’d hit us. Luckily, there was no damage, amazingly, considering how hard she’d hit my rear bumper, so everyone was happy and we went on our merry way.

It was still pretty unnerving, though.

Fun weekend

New color scheme! Woot! Yeah, so I didn’t do anything today. Sat around playing KotOR II for a long time, opened another birthday present (it was a 1GB Flash drive), and did a bit o’ lawn work. And now I’m sitting here checking my email and writing in my blog. Fun times, eh? In case you were wondering, this is how I usually spend my weekends, even the extra-long ones. In fact, with the extra day this weekend, I’ll probably go out and wash my car! Yep, my idea of a fun time. *sighs* I wish I had some good friends around to invite me to a party or something. Oh well. I’m used to being the “social outcast” of sorts. It doesn’t bother me that much. And now I sound self-pitying. Not quite what I was going for.

First post of the new year

And now for my first post of the new year! Huzzah! So, today I’m driving home from school, when I look out the window and can’t see the road at all. It’s completely and totally white. That’s not the worst part. Coming down my street, I half spin out. I hit a patch of snow and ice on a corner and the car starts sliding. I panic and hit the brakes. Note: do not attempt this at home, it only makes things worse. So there I am sliding out of control towards a telephone pole. Luckily, I stop in time before getting a crumpled fender. I officially hate driving in the snow!! In other news, I’m currently looking out my bedroom window at around 6 inches of snow. It’s about time!

Tomorrow at 5:30 in the morning, I’m going down to Tacoma for the Northwest High Schools Honor Band at Pacific Lutheran University. Hopefully I won’t botch my audition as horribly as last year. I can play the audition piece perfectly alone, but when I go up in front of the people there, I wipe out on the easiest scale. ARGH! It’s the Audition Curse!

I also resigned from Copernicus Station. Nothing was really going on there. Besides, I’m not much of a station person. But I’m going to keep with DS1 because that one looks pretty cool. Also, I applied to be a CO with Bravofleet. Hopefully I’ll get it, but I don’t think I have enough “experience” to satisfy the Admiral Staff. If I do, I’ll let y’all know so you can sign up to be my crew! Ian has already promised to be the Chief Engineer.

Finally, I’ve narrowed down my choice of colleges. Knowing that my major will most likely be astronomy (yes, a surprise choice, but one I’m sure of) I’ve selected University of Washington, The Evergreen State College, and Whitman University as my top three (but not necessarily in that order). So if you want to ensure your success in college, make sure you figure out where I’m going and go there.
