First post of the new year

And now for my first post of the new year! Huzzah! So, today I’m driving home from school, when I look out the window and can’t see the road at all. It’s completely and totally white. That’s not the worst part. Coming down my street, I half spin out. I hit a patch of snow and ice on a corner and the car starts sliding. I panic and hit the brakes. Note: do not attempt this at home, it only makes things worse. So there I am sliding out of control towards a telephone pole. Luckily, I stop in time before getting a crumpled fender. I officially hate driving in the snow!! In other news, I’m currently looking out my bedroom window at around 6 inches of snow. It’s about time!

Tomorrow at 5:30 in the morning, I’m going down to Tacoma for the Northwest High Schools Honor Band at Pacific Lutheran University. Hopefully I won’t botch my audition as horribly as last year. I can play the audition piece perfectly alone, but when I go up in front of the people there, I wipe out on the easiest scale. ARGH! It’s the Audition Curse!

I also resigned from Copernicus Station. Nothing was really going on there. Besides, I’m not much of a station person. But I’m going to keep with DS1 because that one looks pretty cool. Also, I applied to be a CO with Bravofleet. Hopefully I’ll get it, but I don’t think I have enough “experience” to satisfy the Admiral Staff. If I do, I’ll let y’all know so you can sign up to be my crew! Ian has already promised to be the Chief Engineer.

Finally, I’ve narrowed down my choice of colleges. Knowing that my major will most likely be astronomy (yes, a surprise choice, but one I’m sure of) I’ve selected University of Washington, The Evergreen State College, and Whitman University as my top three (but not necessarily in that order). So if you want to ensure your success in college, make sure you figure out where I’m going and go there.

Only semi-demonic

Agh! I’m soooo tired. Yesterday was the all-day SJMEA rehearsal and concert (there was another rehearsal last Wednesday but only for two hours). Everything totaled up: I was away from home for 16 hours yesterday, and playing my clarinet for 10 of them. No wonder my lips are so chapped. The concert went very well though. As an added bonus, I had to get to school at 7:00 (a half-hour earlier than usual) for an AP Chemistry lab which was moved to Wednesday but I didn’t know because they decided it while I was at SJMEA. So I have to wake up early to get to school early tomorrow. Man, I’m so wasted now. Plus I have monster amounts of homework that I missed Monday. On the up side, I got me some more country CDs. But what really bums me out is that at the latest count, Bush had 34 electoral votes, and Kerry had 3. Not good. Of course that’s only MSNBC’s projection. And Kerry only has so few votes because the only state he’s won so far is Vermont. I sure hope he wins. Bush had his chance. Normally, I’d go on a liberal rant about the evils of the right-wing and how Bush is evil, blah blah blah, but I won’t because I don’t think the right is evil. Only semi-demonic.
