No crown for you

Winterfest was awesome, even if the DJ did blow his amp. Meh. The upside of that was being able to hear myself think for the last half of the dance. I forgot my crown, though, which was a bummer. They even took pictures of the royalty, and me without my crown…oh well.

Now I’ve got to go back to school, something I really don’t want to do considering the semester ends this Friday. Normally, that’d be a good thing, but I have papers and tests all over the place this week along with my Calculus notebook. I’m probably going to get yet another B in Calc unless all my homework miraculously does itself. Curse my procrastination and concentration problems!

You know, I guess it’s the onset of the end of high school, but it’s getting really hard for me to care about certain things. This holds true for schoolwork (especially Physics and Calc) and other stuff, like my ST simms and bowling. I just don’t care as much as I used to, and it’s bothering me. Things like bowling used to be so much fun, but now I’m anxiously awaiting the end of the league I’m currently in. Maybe it’s some odd form of senioritis, but that’s usually just school-related.

In case you’re starting to worry, no, I’m not depressed. I just don’t know what it is. It seems the only bright spot in my life (what I actually care about) are Lindsay and the rest of my friends. Other than that…

…well, that was a depressing entry. Maybe I’ll find some way to perk up before the semester ends. *wanders off to listen to emo music*

I’m kidding about the emo music bit. I’m not that crazy.

To derive or not to derive…

I went and saw Harry Potter with Lindsay yesterday. Oh man, it was intense. Yeah, there were a lot of bits missing, but I can understand that when I remember how long the book is. Afterwards, we went over to her house for pizza and a(nother) movie. Actually, it was the last 15 minutes of Phenomenon, all of The Nutty Professor, and an episode of Seinfeld. There were cookies, too. Ah, good times. Now I can’t stop thinking about her…

Not much else going on recently, aside from massive amounts of AP homework, namely calculus, physics, and English, and other related crap. Calc isn’t really terribly hard (just kind of oddly-worded and overloading), and English is just mindless pointless drivel under the guise of literary analysis, but it’s physics that’s getting me. I stayed after school today to make up the test I missed on Friday (I had a good excuse!), and understood about half of it. Now we’re starting on a new chapter, kinetic energy and work and all that jazz. Well, it’s better than friction and uniform circular motion. Which is better than the applications of derivatives we’re learning in calc. Which is better than trying to figure out how to put a theme into a thesis about the exact moment of the climax of Hamlet. There’s no theme to be found for that particular thesis! Damn you Munro…why’d you have to let everyone choose their topic on the one day that I wasn’t there…at least we don’t have vocab. Thank the FSM for Thanksgiving!

Damn you Chaintech!

My computer seriously hates me. First off, my video card died (crappy Chaintech support is partially to blame), so I’m being forced to use an ancient NVIDIA TNT2 card (it’s almost seven years old, people) just so I can use the computer. On the plus side, it’s a better card than the piece-of-crap ATI Rage Pro card that I could have used. On the down side, I can’t use Photoshop because my video card is too slow, meaning I’m going to fall way behind on the logo project for Digital Imaging, which should have been finished Wednesday. On the Internet side of things, Firefox won’t show half my bookmarks and it’s having problems following links when I click on them, Internet Explorer just plain sucks, and the fresh copy of the Opera browser I just downloaded doesn’t like MySpace.

Anyways, I found an old Texas pal on MySpace, Stephen Reilly. He moved up to New Jersey right after 8th grade and I thought I’d never see him again. So, a few days ago, I was searching for junior high friends on MySpace and, lo and behold, his name popped up. It was pretty cool.

Ferndale is crazy good

Big football game last night against Anacortes. We won, which isn’t as surprising as it used to be. This means we’ll be hosting Cedarcrest on Tuesday in the first game of the playoffs. To my knowledge, this is the first time we’ve had a home playoff game in years. The Tiger football squad has only lost one game (and that was to the undefeated Ferndale Golden Eagles), putting us in the number two seed going into the playoffs. I think we have a really good chance this year.

Not much else going on. We had a half-day today, which I totally wasted by doing nothing. Well, that’s not completely true. I warmed my computer chair up quite a bit, which I suppose counts as something. But nothing productive, which is what counts, I suppose.

If you haven’t gone and seen Charley’s Aunt, you must go see it this weekend! Tonight and Saturday night are the last two performances, so get off your bum and go watch history in the making! Okay, not really. But it is really good. Seriously.

Can’t go wrong with a goatee

I did the Amazing Race today. Bad move on my part. I’m still feeling woozy.

In case you have no idea what I’m talking about (or are making a mistaken reference to the TV show), the Amazing Race is one of Burlington’s homecoming class competitions. Here’s how it goes:

There are four teams (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors) composed of ten members. Each member is assigned a number (1-10 obviously), which correlates to a certain activity, such as figuring out a simple math problem or eating a nasty sandwich while running up and down three flights of stairs. The catch, however, is that the whole team must run to each station, placed all over the campus. The goal is to reach the finish line (after completing each task successfully without fainting or puking) in the least amount of time. Points are awarded for first, second, third, and fourth places (for determining later who won the overall class competition).

Tonight, with my help of course, the seniors were the victors at about 29 minutes, edging out the juniors by less than a minute. Of course, I was totally about to keel over, so I vowed never to do it again (there’s another Amazing Race for Chickenfest…that’s another story). So now the seniors are in first place for the class competition. We’re upholding the tradition! Woot!

In other news, the big dance is coming up quickly. I’ve already got my suit, made dinner reservations, and bought tickets. All that’s left is to clean up the Geo so it looks somewhat presentable. This year’s homecoming should be really fun. Hopefully I won’t dork it up with Lindsay like I’ve done with a couple dates before. But now I’m older and wiser and have a goatee. You can’t go wrong with a goatee.
