Self-congratulatory

I got my SAT scores back recently. I looked them over and thought to myself, “Oh, snap! I got an 8 on my essay!” and then I put down the score report and walked away.

Kidding. Now, if I can find the report…*grabs shovel and digs through paper on floor* Aha! I got a 740 on the Critical Reading (formerly known as Prince…ah, I mean Verbal), 680 on the Math, and 690 on Writing, which consisted of multiple choice (71) and the essay (8). Not too shabby. 10 points up on both the CR and Math from my last PSAT. Overall, that gives me a score of 2110 on the new SAT scale, and a 1420 on the old. I was aiming for perfect…

Enough about the SAT, it’s depressing me. To explain: the SAT reminds me of the AP Chem test, which is…soon. May 10 to be exact. Dang! That’s not that far off! *moans* I’m gonna fail! And now that reminds me that I have my final playing test in band tomorrow at the beginning of class. But I’m not too worried about that. I am, however, worried about my PAWS presentation on Thursday! I should probably work on that…I hate being a procrastinator.

In other news, the Canuck has finally gotten off the ground (or out of dock, I should say). We’re embarking on our first mission, “Expect the Unexpected”. I’ll let you in on a little secret: it involves Romulans. Yep. I also plan on having a good opportunity for some fighter action, so if anyone wants to join up to be Fighter Wing CO, go right ahead.

As a final note, Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony is the best piece of (old) classical music ever!

USS Canuck

YES!! I have finally become what I’ve always wanted to be! Well, okay, it’s not my life dream, but it’s close. Bravo Fleet’s TF21 finally accepted me as their newest CO. I’m now Lt. Commander Dmitri Krieger of the Titan-class starship USS Canuck. I even have a website up! Visit http://home.earthlink.net/~clpo13/usscanuck to see what’s up. (Future Cody’s note: the site redirects to another that’s now defunct, as that ship/RPG is no longer in existence.) If you want to join, just follow the instructions on the site.

First semester is over!

Oh no! Solo/Ensemble tomorrow and I don’t even know where the heck Bellingham High School is! I’ll have to check Mapquest soon. The Internet is a marvelous thing. Did I just say marvelous? Wow.

So I got out of presenting in ContempLit. Yay! In all my years of high school, and even 8th grade, when I’ve had a major presentation at the end of the year (or semester for a half year class), I’ve miraculously avoided giving it. I don’t stall (well, not exactly), we just happen to run out of time. Oh well, I actually regret not giving it. It would have been better than most I saw…

Three day weekend up ahead. The first semester is FINALLY over! No more 20th Century. No more ContempLit. Instead, I’m trading off for Research Writing and Comparative Religions. Can’t say either are much better, but at least it’ll be a change.

In other news, I joined another Star Trek RPG and am planning to join another. The one I just recently joined is the USS Cherokee, part of Star Trek PBEM Network’s Task Force 11. The character? Captain Lance Chisholm, Marine detachment commander. Ironically, I’ll be using this same character for the Bravo Fleet RPG I’ll soon be joining. So I guess this means congrats to Ian for finally getting his command, the USS Explorer, first ship of her class. Lance Chisholm will be Marine CO there as well. I look forward to RPing with you as my fearless leader, Ian.

Now, I be off to drink and be merry.

First post of the new year

And now for my first post of the new year! Huzzah! So, today I’m driving home from school, when I look out the window and can’t see the road at all. It’s completely and totally white. That’s not the worst part. Coming down my street, I half spin out. I hit a patch of snow and ice on a corner and the car starts sliding. I panic and hit the brakes. Note: do not attempt this at home, it only makes things worse. So there I am sliding out of control towards a telephone pole. Luckily, I stop in time before getting a crumpled fender. I officially hate driving in the snow!! In other news, I’m currently looking out my bedroom window at around 6 inches of snow. It’s about time!

Tomorrow at 5:30 in the morning, I’m going down to Tacoma for the Northwest High Schools Honor Band at Pacific Lutheran University. Hopefully I won’t botch my audition as horribly as last year. I can play the audition piece perfectly alone, but when I go up in front of the people there, I wipe out on the easiest scale. ARGH! It’s the Audition Curse!

I also resigned from Copernicus Station. Nothing was really going on there. Besides, I’m not much of a station person. But I’m going to keep with DS1 because that one looks pretty cool. Also, I applied to be a CO with Bravofleet. Hopefully I’ll get it, but I don’t think I have enough “experience” to satisfy the Admiral Staff. If I do, I’ll let y’all know so you can sign up to be my crew! Ian has already promised to be the Chief Engineer.

Finally, I’ve narrowed down my choice of colleges. Knowing that my major will most likely be astronomy (yes, a surprise choice, but one I’m sure of) I’ve selected University of Washington, The Evergreen State College, and Whitman University as my top three (but not necessarily in that order). So if you want to ensure your success in college, make sure you figure out where I’m going and go there.

The chocolate-hater

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, beautiful day in the neighborhood…I have no frickin’ clue why that song is stuck in my mind. I haven’t watched Mr. Rogers in years! No, really! I’ve grown too old for Mr. Rogers. Now I spend my time watching SpongeBob and Pokemon. Seriously though. I stopped watching Pokemon after the cards went out of style. Then again, when has that ever stopped me before? But SpongeBob is a majorly funny show.

Joy be upon us all! I found out I didn’t miss an episode of Lost like I thought I did. Huzzah! I also beat CoD: United Offensive. Took me a day. I really ought to stop playing these games on the easiest difficulty level. In other news, I successfully ate four cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting. I’m also sick. But my sickness is totally unrelated to the cinnamon rolls. I blame my sister, the chocolate-hater, for giving me a cold. She denies it, but she also denies being a chocolate-hater.

Finally, I’ve discovered that I somehow joined two other Star Trek RPGs (I should get this sleep-computering looked at). You may now call me either Derek Nash, the Chief Security Officer onboard Deep Space 1; or, Ensign Troy Atkins, Chief Operations Officer on Copernicus Station.. I need to find something more productive to do with my time. Now I’m off to do who knows what. Perhaps I shall find a New Year’s resolution to make…
